The cottage on its terrace-lined street

The neighbourhood

Erskineville

Small suburb, short walk to everything

Erskineville is a few streets of terrace houses around an old village high street, with Newtown on one side and Alexandria and Sydney Park on the other. Locals know it for its pubs, its coffee and a lot of very well-walked dogs.

On your doorstep

The village

Cafés, pubs and small shops along Erskineville Road, a few minutes on foot. The Imperial Hotel, made famous by The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert, still runs drag shows.

Getting around

Into the city

Erskineville station is about five minutes' walk from the door. Trains reach the CBD in around ten minutes, and the Harbour and Opera House are a short trip from there.

Walkable

Newtown

King Street and Enmore Road have the restaurants, bars, bookshops and vintage stores, and the Enmore Theatre for a gig.

Green space

Sydney Park

Wetlands, cycling paths, playgrounds and big lawns. It's one of the largest parks in inner Sydney and a favourite morning walk if you've brought the dog.

Weekends

Carriageworks

The arts centre at nearby Eveleigh runs exhibitions and performances, and its Saturday morning farmers market is worth getting up for.
