Erskineville · Inner Sydney

A little heritage cottage behind a white picket fence

A team of well-known architects reimagined everything inside it: timber-lined ceilings, a Miele kitchen, a book-lined dining room and a courtyard that blooms pink all summer. It sleeps four, and it feels like home.

Here's how a day here tends to go.

A day begins

Light through the louvres and breakfast rustled up in the galley kitchen, or a two-minute walk to the village cafés. No rush. There's nowhere you have to be.

Time to wander

Terrace-lined streets, vintage shops, top-rated restaurants, bars and clubs, with Newtown just over the way. Or walk five minutes to the station and you're in the city ten minutes later.

Spritz o'clock

Dinner for four in the formal dining room, or out to one of Erskineville's famous pubs. Then upstairs to AH Beard mattresses and crisp cotton linen, the sleep guests keep writing about.

The neighbourhood

The village on your doorstep

Erskineville has kept its village feel: terrace streets, a short high street of cafés and pubs, and the Imperial Hotel, still putting on drag shows decades after Priscilla made it famous. Newtown and Sydney Park are a short walk, and the CBD is about ten minutes by train.
